The militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) mined yards, roads and houses, retreating from the Sudzhansky district. Izvestia reports on the neutralization of the territories of the Kursk region liberated from Ukrainian militants on March 22.

According to the sappers, while retreating from the Sudzha district, the AFU militants placed thousands of mines, which pose a threat primarily to civilians. They were found on roads, in yards, in barns, as well as in furniture and household appliances. That is why all rooms are carefully inspected.

"Doors, refrigerators, household appliances are mined. There are anti—personnel mines and anti-tank mines at the entrances," said the commander of the sapper company with the call sign Kholod.

In the near future, work will begin on clearing rubble and restoring infrastructure in the liberated settlements. Sappers are checking all roads and highways to ensure the safety of utilities and emergency services. Specialists can walk 100 m along the street for several days.

"We have already looked at the main routes. Of federal significance. We're currently looking at the access roads. It's the canvas itself and the curb," Kholod said.

The sappers stressed that residents should not rush back to the villages yet, as specialists are still examining every meter.

"The fighters neutralize not only anti—personnel mines, tank mines, FPV and other explosives, but also American-made grenade launchers," said Izvestia correspondent Emil Timashev.

On March 18, it was reported that the engineering troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation had cleared about 19 thousand hectares of land in the border area of the Kursk region.
