Rosatom State Corporation is ready to participate in the construction of a nuclear power plant in Vietnam. This was announced on March 22 by Lyudmila Vorobyova, Director of the Third Asia Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Rosatom is also ready to join the construction of a nuclear power plant in Vietnam," Vorobyova said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to her, Russia's partners from the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are showing interest in the possibilities of creating nuclear energy at home. For example, the Russian Federation is firmly committed to working intensively with partners from Myanmar in developing the national nuclear infrastructure and training specialized personnel.

Alexey Likhachev, the head of Rosatom, announced on January 15 that Vietnam intends to return to the Ninh Thuan-1 nuclear power plant construction project, and the Russian Federation is proposing construction based on two power units.

Likhachev drew attention to the fact that 10 years ago Moscow and Hanoi signed intergovernmental agreements on the construction of Ninh Thuan-1. In 2016, Vietnam suspended the development of nuclear energy for various reasons, but now the republic's leadership has decided to resume work because the NPP will help the development of the economy.
