French official suspended from work after TikTok video threatening Macron

In France, a civil servant from the city of Istres was suspended from work after posting a threatening music video against President Emmanuel Macron on the TikTok social network. This was reported by the newspaper Le Figaro on March 21.
"The lyrics of this song and the gestures that accompany it are particularly shocking and serious in the context of the fact that elected officials are increasingly being threatened and harassed," the newspaper quotes a press release from the mayor's office.
It is reported that the girl later tried to justify that the video was a "joke."
"This should by no means be considered humor. <...> After discussions with the state services, it was decided to suspend the official from his duties as a precautionary measure for an indefinite period," the mayor's office said.
On the same day, France called for Macron to be removed from the presidency. Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, the leader of the Stand Up, France party, said that the head of state was creating a false threat from Russia in order to maintain power and "empty the pockets of the French."
