The deputy denied Zelensky's words about the lack of tourism in Crimea

Viktor Zhilenko, a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Crimea, a member of the Committee on Resorts and Tourism, denied the statement of the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, that there was allegedly no tourism in the region. The parliamentarian made a corresponding statement on March 21 in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"What Zelensky is saying is complete nonsense. Hotels are being built in Crimea, active vacation bookings are already underway, beaches are being expanded, and embankments are being renovated in resort towns and villages," he said.
Zhilin also pointed to the significant transformation of the tourist infrastructure on the peninsula over the past 11 years.
On this day, the Ministry of Energy commented on Zelensky's statement on tourism in Crimea. Representatives of the department also noted that even without taking into account the private sector, revenues from tourist accommodation in the region amounted to more than 40 billion rubles in 2024. In order to further promote tourism, Crimea receives government support and subsidies.
