- Politico reported on the risk of recruitment by foreign intelligence agencies of ex-CIA officers

Employees of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) who were dismissed at the initiative of the administration of US President Donald Trump may be recruited by foreign intelligence services. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on March 21, citing officials.
Of particular interest to third countries may be the fact that many of the former employees of the department had access to classified information. At the same time, such persons are legally required not to disclose the data received throughout their entire lives.
"The CIA takes into account security and counterintelligence considerations in every action," said CIA spokeswoman Liz Lyons.
According to her, such a policy of the department remains relevant even in case of dismissal of certain employees.
On March 7, Trump called for officials who neglect their duties to be fired in his speech. The American leader also noted that if cabinet members refuse to make cuts, then the head of the Department of State Efficiency (DOGE), Ilon Mask, will have to deal with this. However, in March, the media learned about the White House's plans to reinstate 24,000 dismissed civil servants. It is reported that officials have already submitted documents and declarations that "detail the efforts of their teams to re-hire dismissed workers in order to comply with court orders." Prior to that, two federal judges ordered the temporary reinstatement of employees who were on probation at the time of their dismissal.
