Russians will be banned from advertising on banned social networks
Facebook Instagram and Facebook will be banned from advertising on undesirable foreign information resources, including Instagram and Facebook (social networks belong to Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
As the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption told Izvestia, a bill with such standards may be adopted in final reading on March 25. The document was submitted to the lower house in June last year by deputies of the United Russia, Communist Party, Liberal Democratic Party, Fair Russia ― For Truth and a number of senators.
"The introduced regulation is relevant and justified, since the monitoring of illegal information resources by the state has shown continued financial activity in the movement of income from distributed advertising in favor of the owners of such information resources, other interested parties, as a rule, who are not residents of the Russian Federation and carry out provocative activities and malevolent actions against the interests of the Russian Federation. Facebook Instagram and Facebook information resources continue to be used by some Russian users through the use of technologies to circumvent Internet access restrictions, which creates an opportunity for owners of such illegal information resources to receive income from advertising distribution, which can range from 50 to 90% in the total amount of revenue," the explanatory note says. to the bill.
It also notes that the owners of illegal information resources receive income from advertising, allowing them to create new content, including prohibited information, and maintain user interest in their resources.
