- Vucic pointed to the unprecedented brutality of the protest at the meeting of the SPP party in Nis

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic commented on the incident a day earlier with the throwing of eggs at participants of the meeting of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SPP) and the mayor of Nis. He made the statement on March 21 on the social network Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
"In these 13 years, I have not felt such anger and annoyance as I feel tonight. Serbia did not deserve to be treated from the outside, and domestic criminals led by Dragan Sholak did not deserve to be treated from the outside. Something happened in Nisha tonight that has never happened and that will not happen again in our country. Ordinary people who participated in the SPP meeting were brutally attacked," Vucic said.
He noted that the participants in the attack "lynched" the participants of the meeting for their dissent.
"They threw everything they could at people, from rocks to eggs <...>, shouted the worst fascist threats. The attack on Mayor Dragoslav Pavlovic is a true picture of their color revolution," the Serbian leader said.
The demonstrations began in Belgrade in the early morning of March 15. The protest action of students involves blocking key points of the Serbian capital. A convoy of 100 tractors joined the protesters. According to the latest information from President Aleksandar Vucic, 56 people were injured during Saturday's protests. The reason for the start of anti-government protests by students and the opposition since November 2024 was the death of 15 people as a result of the collapse of the canopy of the railway station in Novi Sad. After the tragedy, Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic resigned.
