The amount of electricity lost by Heathrow Airport due to the fire has become known.

As a result of the fire, London's Heathrow Airport, the country's largest air harbor, lost enough energy to meet the needs of an average city. This was announced on March 21 by the head of the airport, Thomas Waldby, on the Sky News channel.
"We lost a significant part of our power supply, and I want to emphasize that this was a very serious incident, not a small fire. We lost energy equivalent to that of a medium—sized city, and our backup systems were working as they should, but they are not designed to manage the entire airport," he said.
Waldby stressed that the situation was "unprecedented" because nothing like this had happened before. According to him, now it is necessary to start "rebuilding the supply" of the entire airport, since as a result of the fire, not only the substation that initially caught fire was damaged, but also the backup transformer.
An explosion at a substation occurred the day before, as a result of which the electricity was cut off at Heathrow Airport. In this regard, the air harbor was closed until midnight on March 21. Firefighters continue to fight the fire.
In addition, it became known that the air harbor was seriously damaged after an explosion and a fire at an electrical substation. Airport staff and passengers faced darkened areas, limited service, and delays at check-in and baggage handling facilities.
