Security measures will be tightened in Dagestan during the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This was announced on March 21 by the press service of the head of the region Sergey Melikov in the Telegram channel.

"Law and order and security will be provided by about 4,000 law enforcement officers, as well as the people's militia and representatives of private security companies," he said.

Special attention will be paid to the protection of industrial enterprises, facilities of the fuel and energy complex (fuel and energy complex), places of mass gathering of people, as well as healthcare and educational institutions.

"Together with volunteers, national squads and Cossack formations, more than 800 monuments and military graves will be protected," Melikov stressed.

Separately, the head of the region indicated that from May 1 to May 10, 2025, the personnel of Dagestan's law enforcement agencies will switch to an enhanced mode of operation. Thus, stationary police posts will be reinforced with additional forces and means for vehicle inspection.

Experts also plan to examine in advance the route that the equipment involved in the parade will follow. In order to increase anti-terrorist security, unscheduled inspections of crowded places were announced, which will take place in April.

On the occasion of the solemn date, a general cleaning of urban facilities will be carried out in Khanty-Mansiysk on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The work will be completed by the end of April, Maxim Ryashin, the head of the district capital, said during a meeting of the regional committee for preparations for the celebration on May 9.

In 2025, May 9 marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In January 1945, the Soviet army launched an offensive against Berlin. As a result of the fighting, at 00:43 Moscow time on May 9, the commanders-in-chief signed the act of unconditional surrender of Germany, which served as the end of the war.

On the occasion of the anniversary, Izvestia launched a special project "80 days to Victory." It publishes articles from Izvestia during the war, the full list of which can be found in the electronic archive.
