- The United States banned the entry of the former president of Argentina and accused her of corruption

The US administration on Friday, March 21, banned the entry of former Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and former Federal Planning Minister Julio de Vido and accused them of corruption.
"Fernandez de Kirchner and de Vido abused their position by organizing [schemes] and financially profiting from numerous bribery schemes related to public works contracts, as a result of which millions of dollars were stolen from the Argentine government," Bloomberg quoted US Secretary of State Marco Rubio as saying.
Restrictive measures also apply to their immediate family members.
In 2022, Kirchner was sentenced to six years in prison in a corruption case, but did not serve a single term, because at that time she was the current vice president of Argentina.
Earlier, on October 15, 2024, Kirchner announced her intention to lead the opposition. She is going to lead the opposition bloc Partido Justicialista (Justicialist Party). The Partido Justicialista bloc unites all the parties that belong to the so-called Peronist movement. The policy of the Peronists is aimed at developing a socially oriented economy with an emphasis on exports, the promotion of high technologies, and the fight against poverty.
