Oleg Gordievsky, a Soviet defector who worked for Britain, has died

Oleg Gordievsky, one of the most famous spies of the 20th century, died at the age of 86. This was reported by the BBC on March 21.
According to the newspaper, he died at his home in Surrey (UK).
Oleg Gordievsky was a KGB colonel and worked for the British intelligence services MI6 and MI5 for many years, passing them important intelligence information. In 1985, he was suspected of unreliability in Russia, sentenced to death in absentia for treason, and the spy fled to the UK.
Later, in 2007, Queen Elizabeth II awarded Gordievsky the Order of Merit for his services to ensuring the national security of the country.
