The United States intends to deprive Iran of the opportunity to export oil. This was announced on Friday, March 21, by the head of the press service of the US Department of State, Tammy Bruce.

"The campaign to exert maximum pressure [on Tehran] is aimed at reducing to zero Iran's oil exports, which it uses to finance its destabilizing activities. This also applies to oil exports to China," she said at a daily briefing.

According to her, Iran's foreign policy poses a threat to the national security of the United States.

Bruce clarified that the resumption of the campaign to exert maximum pressure on Tehran is aimed at eliminating Iran's nuclear threat, including to "curb its ballistic missile development program" and prevent it from supporting terrorist groups.

Earlier, on March 19, it became known that US President Donald Trump wrote a letter to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, which set a deadline of two months for concluding a new nuclear deal. It is still unclear whether the two-month deadline starts from the moment the letter is delivered or from the moment negotiations begin.

On March 17, Trump said that Iran would be responsible for the attacks carried out by the Yemeni Houthis. According to him, it is Tehran that is behind the arming and financing of the Houthis, as well as the organization of their actions.
