In Primorsky Krai, the investigation of a criminal case against a 42-year-old resident of the village of Luchegorsk, accused of killing an Amur tiger, has been completed. The regional prosecutor's office reports this in its Telegram channel.
The Amur tiger was shot on the territory of the hunting grounds of the Alchan Society of Hunters and Fishermen. According to the investigation, the accused discovered a male tiger and shot him twice with a Tiger rifled carbine.
The striped owner of the taiga suffered life-threatening injuries. The hunter butchered the slain animal, took it outside the hunting grounds and hid the animal parts in the forest along the road.
The investigation of the criminal case under Part 1 of Article 258.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal extraction of especially valuable wild animals belonging to species listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation and protected by international treaties of the Russian Federation") has been completed. The materials were submitted to the Pozharsky District Court for consideration.
According to PrimaMedia news agency, the poacher faces up to four years in prison. In addition, the regional Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife Protection filed a civil lawsuit against him in the amount of 2.7 million rubles. The defendant's long-barreled carbine and hunting-equipped UAZ were seized.
