An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 was recorded off the coast of the Aleutian Islands, which are part of the American state of Alaska. This was announced on March 21 on the website of the US Geological Survey.

The earthquake occurred at 14:53 UTC (17:53 Moscow time) 84 km south-east of the city of Adak, which is home to 332 people. The source was located at a depth of 17 km.

There has been no information about casualties or damage yet.

A magnitude 5.5 earthquake was recorded off the coast of Indonesia on March 18. The source of the tremors was at a depth of 52 km. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 102 km from the city of Pematangsiantar, which has a population of 209 thousand people.
