Mongolia's State Expertise approves the Soyuz Vostok gas pipeline project

Mongolia's state expertise has approved the construction of the Soyuz Vostok gas pipeline, which will be a continuation of Russia's Power of Siberia–2 and will run from Russia through Mongolia to China. This was announced on March 21 in the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation.
Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev discussed the project at a working meeting with Mongolia's Ambassador-at-Large, Zandaahuu Enkhbold.
"The head of the Ministry of Energy noted that the construction of the gas pipeline would give an additional impetus to the long-term Russian-Mongolian cooperation," the statement said.
During the talks, the parties also touched upon the reconstruction of thermal power plants in Mongolia and the application of Russian industry standards in joint energy projects.
Earlier, in September 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that in addition to the transit of Russian gas, the possibility of supplying fuel to Mongolian consumers was being considered.
