People's Artist of Russia, singer Bedros Kirkorov united people through his music. This was stated on March 21 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in an interview with reporters at the farewell ceremony for the performer.

"A man <...> who, by the power of his word, by the power of his art, brought nations closer together," she described the singer.

She noted that Bedros Kirkorov had devoted his entire life to developing ties between Russia and Bulgaria. His example is becoming especially important now, when many cultural figures are trying to achieve the "cancellation" of colleagues from other countries.

In addition, Zakharova noted that the singer personally defended the monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators "Alyosha" in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

"He was on the front line at a time when many still did not understand what it was (the fight against memorials in honor of Red Army soldiers. — Ed.) will become a system. On this day, I couldn't help but come <...> to say goodbye to this man personally," said the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Kirkorov's funeral takes place at the Troekurovsky Cemetery in Moscow. Prior to that, a private funeral service was held in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was also present at the event. He called Bedros Kirkorov a unique person and noted the role of the artist in supporting talented young people in their work.

The death of the singer was announced on March 18 by his son Philip Kirkorov. The performer died of cardiac arrest.
