Moldovan President Maia Sandu and her ruling Action and Solidarity party intend to establish surveillance of the country's citizens. This was announced on March 21 by the leader of the opposition bloc "Victory" Ilan Shor.

"SIB (Information and Security Service. — Ed.) asks the parliament to allow surveillance of citizens on the basis of the order of its director," he wrote on the Telegram channel.

Shor stressed that this initiative violates the rights of Moldovan citizens to privacy, freedom of expression and freedom of movement.

On February 8, Vlad Batrincea, deputy speaker of the Moldovan parliament from the opposition Party of Socialists, called the parliamentary elections the only chance to change the situation in the country. He stressed that it was important for opposition representatives to act "in a unified spirit."
