- The death toll from the collapse at the railway station in Novi Sad has increased to 16

The number of victims of the collapse of the canopy at the train station in Novi Sad, Serbia, has increased to 16. The relevant information was published on March 21 on the website of the Serbian Military Medical Academy.
"Patient V. S., born in 2006, who was seriously injured as a result of a falling roof canopy in Novi Sad, who entered the Military Medical Academy on January 29 after treatment at the Vojvodina Clinical Center, died on March 21," the academy noted.
The statement also clarifies that despite all the treatment measures taken and the maximum dedication of the staff, the patient died from complex injuries and complications caused by them.
The canopy of the railway station collapsed in the city of Novi Sad on November 1 last year. The Serbian authorities declared November 2 a day of mourning for the victims.
After the incident, on November 4, 2024, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia Goran Vesic decided to leave his post. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in the same month that this resignation was "just the beginning" and that a series of dismissals would take place in the country in the near future.
