The new development strategy of the Russian Navy will take into account the experience of the special military operation to protect Ukraine and will contain a forecast of the development of the military and political situation in the world. This was announced on March 21 by Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Maritime Board.

The draft strategy was reviewed at a meeting of the Navy's Strategic Development Council. The strategic planning document will formulate the goals and objectives of the Navy for the short and long term, as well as priorities for its development.

"The strategy will be based on the basic principles of fleet construction, taking into account the experience of conducting a special military operation, the current state and forecast of the development of the military-political situation in the world," the press service of the board reported.

The strategy will also be aimed at ensuring the country's security, protecting its national interests in the oceans and preserving Russia's status as a maritime power.

On February 6, Patrushev also reported that Russia is creating its own mobile satellite communications system for the navy in response to the actions of the West, which is trying not to allow the Russian Federation to use maritime transport communications and disconnects domestic vessels from the Inmarsat satellite system. He noted that the restrictions imposed by Western countries pose risks to the safety of navigation and people's lives, and growing geopolitical tensions negatively affect the work of maritime activities.
