In Lipetsk, they began selling seedlings — these flowers are listed in the Red Book of Russia, as well as some types of snowdrops. A bouquet of spring flowers is offered at a price of 100 rubles, GOROD48 reported on Friday, March 21.

All flower sales on the streets of the regional capital are illegal, said Anton Mamonov, head of the city administration's consumer market department. The exceptions are a few days before March 8th and the holiday itself.

Management staff conduct raids several times a week to identify points of illegal sale. Now they will pay attention to the sellers of primroses. An explanatory conversation will be held with elderly sellers for the first time, and in case of repeated violations, a protocol on illegal trade will be drawn up against them.

According to ecologists, primroses are the only source of nutrition for bees and bumblebees, which awaken in early spring. If insects depleted in winter do not receive enough nutrition, this can lead to a sharp decrease in their numbers.

Pollinating insects are essential during the flowering period of many plants and fruit trees. The future harvest in the orchards, vegetable gardens, and fields of the region largely depends on their number.

Earlier, Izvestia wrote that Russian scientists have studied the relationship between the surface structure of flower petals and their resistance to colonization by microorganisms. They found out that applying a relief pattern to polymer materials that repeats the structure of the plant surface is an effective method of protection against microbes.
