"God forbid that this happens, it's great that the two presidents have agreed. Now it's up to the people who will organize this to bring it to an end. It will be a unique historical event," the athlete said.

On March 18, US President Donald Trump supported Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal to organize hockey matches in the United States and Russia between players playing in the NHL and KHL during a telephone conversation. The two leaders agreed to remain in contact on all issues raised during the talks.
