The dates of the beginning of floods in the Leningrad region have been named

Floods in the Leningrad region will start two weeks ahead of schedule. This was stated by Mikhail Kryachek, head of the Department for Cooperation with military authorities, Justice and Judicial Authorities, at a press conference on Friday, March 21.
"High water is expected in the third decade of March, that is, starting tomorrow, and in the first decade of April. This is 10-15 days earlier than usual. The maximum water level is expected to be up to a meter below normal," the official said, quoted by the 78 TV channel.
During a flood, congestion may occur in the lower reaches of the Pasha River, in the middle reaches of the Oyat River and on the Syas River. This is the northeastern region — Volkhovsky and Lodeynopolsky districts.
According to Kryachek, if necessary, ice-blasting operations will be carried out, they will be carried out by professionals. All risks to local residents and natural resources have been taken into account.
Earlier in March, the Hydrometeorological Center said that after a warm winter, flooding is expected to be weaker than in 2024, but flooding will occur. Some of the Russian rivers have already been opened from the ice, and the peak of the flood will be in April. Flooding is possible almost all over the country.
