- The media reported on the discussion by the European Union of gas transit from Ukraine through Slovakia

The European Union (EU) is considering the possibility of transit of gas from Ukraine's underground storage facilities through Slovakia. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on March 21, citing officials.
"The European Union is discussing a new plan that will allow the use of Ukraine's giant underground gas storage facilities," the article says.
According to the plan under discussion, Ukraine will increase gas imports from Greece and Turkey, after which the fuel will be sent to Slovak pipelines, and from them to European countries. It is assumed that in this way Kiev will be able to store up to 10 billion cubic meters of gas and supply it to other countries, such as Hungary.
According to the newspaper, this mechanism will allow Slovakia to resume its role as a transit country.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that the Nord Stream 2 (SP–2) gas pipeline could be placed under U.S. control so that Germany could receive gas from Russia through it. It is noted that in order to implement this option, anti-Russian sanctions must be lifted not only by the American side, but also by the European side.
