Russia and Indonesia expand cooperation

Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, and Jose Antonio Morato Tavares, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation, met in Moscow. The parties discussed the participation of the Indonesian delegation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will be held from June 18 to 21, and in other congress and exhibition events organized by the Roscongress Foundation in Russia and abroad.

Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, noted the strengthening of official and business contacts between Russia and Indonesia. "Indonesia is a reliable and time-tested partner for Russia. Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia are traditionally taking part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Representatives of government authorities, trade and industrial unions and associations, public organizations and associations, as well as the Indonesian business community representing the real estate and construction sectors, as well as the financial and insurance industries come to St. Petersburg. Joint work on the key international discussion platform of the SPIEF will give an impetus to the development of a long-term mutual dialogue between Russia and Indonesia in a wide range of areas. The countries are officially cooperating within the framework of BRICS, and this cooperation needs to be expanded within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Cooperation between Russia and the ASEAN countries," said Anton Kobyakov.

During the meeting, the participation of Indonesian representatives in the SPIEF 2025 business program and preparations for the Russia-Indonesia Business Dialogue Forum were discussed. A proposal was also made to place a country stand at the SPIEF site, which could demonstrate Indonesia's investment opportunities, its projects in tourism and other industries to the guests and participants of the Forum. The sides expressed their readiness to develop cooperation between the countries in the political, trade, economic, tourism and cultural spheres.

Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation Jose Antonio Morato Tavares highlighted the importance of developing dialogue between Russia and Indonesia in the year of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. "The Russian side attaches great importance to the creation of high-level discussion platforms for further expansion and deepening of Russian-Indonesian cooperation. The Indonesian business community is interested in developing practical cooperation with Russia both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of the Russia-ASEAN dialogue partnership," stressed Jose Antonio Morato Tavares.

Special attention was paid during the meeting to the Russia-Indonesia business forum, which will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on April 14-15 on the sidelines of the 13th meeting of the Russian–Indonesian Joint Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation. The business forum will be co-organized by the Roscongress Foundation under the Roscongress International brand and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN). The Forum will become a platform for an open and trusting dialogue between the government, business and society of the two countries to discuss, search for and promote initiatives and projects aimed at strengthening Russian-Indonesian cooperation. The business Forum will become the starting point for cooperation between Russia and Indonesia on the forum track, which will continue within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June.

At the end of the meeting, Anton Kobyakov invited representatives of the delegation of the Republic of Indonesia to take part in other major congress, exhibition and business events to be held in Russia this year, including the Eastern Economic Forum on September 3-6 in Vladivostok, the International Forum "Russian Energy Week" on October 13-15 and the International Tourism Forum "Travel!" on 10-15 June in Moscow
