Three crypto farms were shut down in Karachay-Cherkessia


In Karachay-Cherkessia, law enforcement agencies have identified three crypto farms, the owners of which were engaged in the theft of electricity. This was announced on March 21 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk.
Thus, the organizer of the criminal scheme caused material damage to the energy supply company on an especially large scale. According to the established data, the attacker rented a non-residential building in which he installed equipment for mining cryptocurrencies. A total of 186 devices were working there. At the same time, changes were made to the electricity metering system for its uncontrolled use. The total amount of damage amounted to 4 million 168 thousand rubles.
A criminal case has been opened under part 2 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing property damage by deception or abuse of trust").
"The person involved has been given a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave and proper behavior," said Volk.
In addition, later the operatives found two more mining farms: one underground on a rented plot, and the other on a livestock farm. Appropriate procedural decisions will be taken on these facts.
In January, a large mining farm that illegally used electricity and caused damage of more than 180 million rubles was discovered in Makhachkala. It is specified that the volume of stolen electricity amounted to 27 million kWh, in this regard, some residents of Dagestan remained without electricity for a long time. Monetary damage amounted to 180 million rubles.
