- Trump signed a decree on the liquidation of the US Department of Education surrounded by schoolchildren

US President Donald Trump, sitting among children at desks in a mock-up of a school office created in the White House, signed a decree abolishing the US Department of Education and transferring its powers to state authorities and local communities. This was reported on March 21 by CNN.
"It sounds weird, doesn't it? The Department of Education, we are going to eliminate it," the head of state said.
According to Trump, the experiment on federal control over education has "failed," and the agency is creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
According to the new decree, called "Improving educational outcomes by empowering parents, states and communities," the head of the ministry, Linda McMahon, is required to take measures to close the department she heads and transfer authority.
Earlier, on March 20, the Reuters news agency reported that the attorneys general of several states were ready to challenge Trump's decree on the liquidation of the Ministry of Education. Last week, they filed a lawsuit to stop the process of abolishing the department.
