Foxes living in the natural territories of the capital began to change their winter fur to summer. This was announced on Friday, March 21, by the portal of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

The red fox (Vulpes vulpes) lives on the territory of the city. These animals have learned to look for food, shelter, and ways to survive in an urban environment. Muscovites began to notice foxes more often and pay attention to their appearance.

"In February and March, foxes begin their molting period, which lasts for several months, until the middle of summer. <...> During the spring shift, the fluffy fur coat does not look as impressive as in winter. During this period, the animal may seem battered," the portal said.

At the same time, it is clarified that everything is fine with the animal, this is not a sign that the fox is sick, and she does not need human help.

Experts from the Moscow Department of Nature Management and Environmental Protection reminded that it is not recommended to feed foxes in urban conditions.

Earlier, on March 17, bears began to come out of hibernation at the Moscow Zoo. They went into hibernation in the second half of December. Immediately after waking up, bears move sleepily and unhurriedly.
