A mine from the Great Patriotic War (WWII) was discovered in the Leningrad Region during land work. This was reported on Friday, March 21, by the 78 TV channel.

"In the village of Romanovka, during land work for the construction of a bridge at the entrance from Gatchina, a German mortar mine from the Great Patriotic War was discovered," the report says.

Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene of the discovery. They confirmed that the mine could be dangerous, and then took it out for further disposal.

Earlier, on July 31, 2024, a mortar mine from the Great Patriotic War was found near the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. She was found at the bottom of the Winter Trench by divers of the Russian Guard during a routine inspection of the canals and rivers of St. Petersburg.
