The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminded about the rules of use of means of individual mobility

Soon, citizens on electric scooters, monowheels, electric skateboards and segways will appear on the streets of many Russian cities. To make these trips safe, Irina Volk, the official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry, recalled on March 21 the basic rules for the use of personal mobility equipment (SIM).

"For users of personal mobility aids, there are special requirements in the Rules of the Road that need to be known and followed," she said.

Wolf reminded that only one person can ride an electric scooter and other means of individual mobility.

It is allowed to use such vehicles on a bicycle or an all-terrain bike path, the roadway of a bicycle zone, a lane for cyclists, sidewalks and pedestrian areas, if no forbidding road signs are installed in these places.

Wolf also noted that the rules allow you to move along the carriageway: in the direction of traffic, on the right edge and no faster than 60 km / h.

"It is unacceptable to use electric scooters and similar devices on motorways and highways marked with a road sign "Road for cars," she stressed.

Wolf said that when traveling on the road, personal mobility equipment must have serviceable brakes, a horn, a headlight in front and red lights in the back.

"It should be remembered that pedestrians have an advantage on sidewalks and pedestrian zones, and the driver of a scooter or monowheel must give way to them. Users of personal mobility devices should cross the roadway only through crosswalks and on foot," said the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

She also pointed out the rule according to which children under the age of seven must be accompanied by adults when using personal mobility aids.

"Regular users of personal mobility devices should not neglect protective devices," concluded Wolf.

A driver's license may be introduced for users of electric scooters. The corresponding proposal was put forward by the Investigative Committee of Russia on March 18. So, the subcategory M1 will appear in the ID. You will be able to receive a document only after reaching the age of 16.
