Orban criticized Zelensky's speech at the EU summit

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban criticized the speech of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at the European Union (EU) summit. The politician made the corresponding statement on March 20 in a video message on the Facebook social network (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
"The President of Ukraine confused the roles. He behaves as if [Ukraine] is in the European Union, and therefore can afford a sharper tone, although he cannot. He is a petitioner who wants to join the European Union," Orban said.
He noted that Zelensky was clearly conducting a dialogue "not in a friendly manner." At the same time, the Hungarian leader himself allegedly tried to convince the rest of the participants of the event "not to embark on military adventures", but to support the plans for a peaceful settlement proposed by US President Donald Trump.
Orban also recalled the imminent holding of a vote among the population on whether to accept Ukraine into the EU or not.
"And no matter how President Zelensky urges us, even standing on our heads, until we know the opinion of Hungarians, I cannot support him in this," he concluded.
Earlier, on March 19, Orban pointed to the policy of double standards towards the member states of the European Union (EU), and also called for the removal of the "liberal elite" from power. He also pointed to the EU's interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states.
