A large-scale rearmament plan promoted by Brussels will help the bloc's countries increase their military potential and thereby reduce US military dominance in Europe, Lubos Blaga, a member of the European Parliament from Slovakia, told Izvestia.

"We hope that within the framework of the defense budget we will be able to implement dual-use projects that, in addition to their military functions, will also serve the civilian population of Slovakia. For example, a large military hospital is already under construction in the east of our country, which will significantly improve the medical infrastructure of the entire region, and other projects are planned," he added.

Meanwhile, the politician regrets that discussions about Europe's defense capability are taking place in an atmosphere of intense Russophobia.

"We are determined to do everything possible to block this anti-Russian pressure and, conversely, we are trying to develop communication and cooperation with Russia as much as possible. I want to emphasize that the rearmament plan does not oblige us to engage in anti—Russian activities," he said.
