- The head of the European Council, Costa, announced an annual capital drain from the EU of € 300 billion.

The head of the European Council, Antonio Costa, said at a press conference following the summit in Brussels on March 20 that capital flight from the European Union (EU) amounts to €300 billion per year.
"About €300 billion of capital flows out of the European market every year. Therefore, today we are lowering energy prices and simplifying the rules for private investment," he said on the EU website.
Costa also informed that the EU intends to reduce bureaucratic rules for all European companies by 25%.
"Today we have agreed on clear goals, clear objectives and clear deadlines. By reducing bureaucracy by 25% for all companies and by 35% for small and medium—sized enterprises (SMEs), we will simplify the lives of all companies in our economic space," he stressed.
On March 14, Euractiv announced that the European Union (EU) intends to create a voluntary fund for military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of €20-40 billion to circumvent Hungary's veto. It was specified that each country would contribute to the fund depending on its "economic weight." At the same time, the EU will consider as its contribution €1.9 billion of profits from frozen Russian assets.
