The Ministry of Energy commented on Zelensky's statement on tourism in Crimea

On March 20, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation commented on the statement by the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, about the alleged lack of tourist traffic in the territory of the Republic of Crimea.
"Today, Crimea is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Russia. <...> In total, from 2014 to 2024, more than 20 million people were accommodated in hotels in Crimea and about 2 million more in hotels in Sevastopol," the ministry cited Rosstat data.
Representatives of the Ministry of Economy also noted that even without taking into account the private sector, revenues from tourist accommodation in the region amounted to more than 40 billion rubles in 2024. In order to further promote tourism in the region, Crimea receives government support and subsidies.
Earlier, Zelensky's statement was circulated in the media that there had allegedly been no tourism in the region for 11 years.
On March 13, the head of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, announced that the tourist code of the city center will be comprehensively equipped in Saki by the end of this 2025. 180 million rubles will be spent for these purposes.
