Two cars fell through the ice on Lake Baikal

Over the past day, two cars have fallen through the ice on Lake Baikal in the Irkutsk region. The Ministry of Emergency Situations urges local residents to be careful.

The incidents occurred on the Small Sea. Due to the sudden warming, the ice situation has become tense. The ferry to Olkhon Island operates only in one direction, IrkutskMedia news agency writes.

On March 19, about 20 fishermen found themselves on a breakaway ice floe 25 m from the bank of the Volga River in the Yaroslavl region. The incident occurred as a result of a crack in the ice field. 17 people and seven pieces of equipment participated in the rescue operation.
