- Kucheren's lawyer announced a decrease in fraud in the field of investments due to the Ministry of Internal Affairs

The problem of financial literacy of the population and deception of citizens in the field of proposals for investing their money in questionable activities is actively discussed by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and thanks to their work with people, they are less likely to fall for the tricks of a fraudster. This was stated to Izvestia on March 20 by Anatoly Kucherena, chairman of the Public Council at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, lawyer.
This conclusion was made by experts at the end of the meeting of the Presidium of the Public Council at the department, dedicated to improving the level of financial literacy of the population.
"We have heard that, for example, in Buryatia in 2024, not a single case was initiated in this category of crimes. People who are approached, who are offered to invest, to invest money somewhere, nevertheless began to think more about these proposals," said Kucherena.
He added that the topic of financial literacy is very relevant, and quite a lot of meetings have been organized recently within the framework of the work of the Public Council under the Ministry of Internal Affairs on this issue. The council members also work remotely, as citizens send a lot of complaints about fraud in the field of investments to law enforcement agencies.
The participants of the meeting discussed the current situation in the country, as well as analyzed common schemes and characteristic features of deception of citizens. This is an important step in the fight against fraud, especially given the growing number of "pyramid schemes" and other types of illegal investment activities, the organizers of the event noted.
On February 26, the press service of the Department for combating the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation warned that fraudsters often act as fake brokers in order to steal funds and confidential data, while promising passive earnings. The department clarified that pseudo-brokerage is a common way of deceiving Russians, the department said.
