Sales of used cars in Russia decreased by 5.5% in a month

In February 2025, 397.1 thousand used passenger cars were purchased in Russia, which is 5.5% less than a month earlier and 0.6% lower than in February last year. This is stated in the message of the analytical agency Autostat, which was received by Izvestia on March 21.

Lada holds the leadership in the secondary market among the brands, 106 thousand such cars of the domestic brand were purchased in the last winter month. Toyota retains the second place (39.1 thousand units). This is followed by Kia and Hyundai (21.1 thousand and 20.7 thousand units, respectively), as well as Nissan (17.4 thousand units). Volkswagen, Chevrolet, Renault and Ford rounded out the top ten.

In the top ten, all brands recorded negative dynamics relative to the level of a month ago, while Honda's was stronger than others (-10.9%). In annual comparison, only Lada managed to demonstrate growth (+4.3%).

Among the models, the Lada 2107 sedan turned out to be the most popular, with Russians buying 9.8 thousand vehicles in a month. "sevens." This was followed by Lada 2114 Samara-2 (8.4 thousand units), Kia Rio (7.7 thousand units) and Hyundai Solaris (7.6 thousand units), as well as the Lada 4x4 three-door SUV and Lada 2170 Priora sedan, with February results of 7.4 thousand units each. The top 10 was completed by Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla, Lada 2190 ("Grant") and Toyota Camry.

Compared to January, all models were "in the red", and the Toyota Camry recorded the strongest sales decline (-8.6%). Compared to February 2024, half of the models show an increase, while the other half show a decrease. The Lada Granta sedan was the best among the first (+10.9%), and the fourteenth was the worst among the second (-9%).

Analysts added that in January-February 2025, residents of the Russian Federation became owners of 817.4 thousand used passenger cars. This is 12.9% more year-on-year. At the same time, all ten brands and models showed positive dynamics during this period.
