Tesla is recalling almost all Cybertruck electric pickups sold in the United States since the model was released. 46.1 thousand cars are participating in the service campaign, Reuters reported on March 20. The reason for the recall was the risk that the pickup truck's body panel could come off while driving and lead to an accident, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said.

Tesla representatives said the company was aware of 151 warranty claims potentially related to the recall, but there was no information about accidents or injuries. The company assumes that only 1% of all sold electric trucks sold from November 13, 2023 to February 27, 2025 have a defect.

According to Carscoops, we are talking about a stainless steel body panel that runs from the edge of the windshield through the rack through the curved part of the roof and extends to the end of the upper part of the tailgate. In a certain place, glue is used, which is vulnerable to embrittlement under the influence of the environment. To fix the problem, Tesla specialists will replace the glue with another one and additionally strengthen the joint mechanically.

In total, the Tesla Cybertruck has participated in eight recall campaigns since its market debut in 2023. Most of the problems were solved by updating the software.

Earlier that day, it was reported that the organizers of the international auto show in Vancouver, Canada, excluded Tesla from the list of participants, although the brand's electric cars were already in the showroom. The organizers of the motor show explained the failure by safety requirements.
