Not all European countries have accepted the plan of the head of European diplomacy, Kai Kallas, to provide Ukraine with weapons worth € 40 billion. This was reported on March 20 by the Italian newspaper La Stampa.

It is clarified that Italy, Spain, Portugal and France rejected the plan. At the same time, it is assumed that the amount may drop to €5 billion due to the refusal of states to provide financial support in the amount of €40 billion.

"Countries far away [from the Russian Federation] do not see the threat as clearly as their neighbors," the newspaper quoted Kallas as saying.

The head of the European Diplomacy also stressed that this proposal presupposes the participation of countries "on a voluntary basis," adds "Газета.Ru ".

On March 14, Euractiv announced that the European Union (EU) intends to create a voluntary fund for military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of €20-40 billion to circumvent Hungary's veto. It was specified that each country would contribute to the fund depending on its "economic weight." At the same time, the EU will consider as its contribution €1.9 billion of profits from frozen Russian assets.
