- The media called the failed counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2023 the turning point of the conflict

The counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the summer of 2023, which collapsed, became a turning point in the conflict. This was reported on March 20 by The National Interest (NI) magazine.
"If there was a turning point in the <conflict>, it was most likely the failed Ukrainian counteroffensive in the summer of 2023," the article says.
As the magazine pointed out, the Ukrainian Armed Forces spent months preparing the operation. It is specified that the units that were preparing for the offensive also received the latest Western weapons, including British-made Challenger 2 tanks, German Leopard 2 tanks, as well as American-made M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.
"When the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched their offensive, they encountered Russian defenses, the largest and most comprehensive line of defense in Europe since the end of World War II," the article says.
NI noticed that the fortifications of the Russian army were divided into many kilometers. As a result, the Ukrainian militants lacked the necessary offensive strike to break through this defense.
On February 19, Verkhovna Rada deputy Nina Yuzhanina reported on the critical level of support for the Ukrainian army. She clarified that the problem lies in the lack of funds for weapons, but also in where to buy them from.
Former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko (a member of the association included by Rosfinmonitoring in the list of those involved in extremist activities or terrorism) at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on February 11 called the situation on the front line critical for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
