Patrushev spoke about the unique Russian platform "North Pole"

Roshydromet needs to actively cooperate with other agencies and develop its own scientific and technical base for more effective forecasting of natural disasters. This was announced on March 20 by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev during the summing up of the work of the service in 2024.
He noted that the Russian Hydrometeorological Service has planned joint projects with the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Construction and the Federal Air Transport Agency. At the same time, Patrushev stressed that the service needs dynamic digitalization to simplify the interaction of departments. In particular, he instructed to accelerate work on creating a single platform for industry services, which was previously scheduled to be launched by 2030.
"I understand that the task is non-linear, really global, but I still think that it should not be delayed like this. [Head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Service] Igor Anatolyevich [Shumakov], we need to look for an option and make the platform faster," the Deputy Prime Minister instructed.
In addition, Patrushev stressed the need to develop methods of observing nature on a domestic technical basis. As a good example, he cited the Russian ice-resistant platform North Pole, which has no analogues in the world. It allows scientists to explore previously unexplored territories beyond the Arctic Circle and is now taking on board the second Antarctic drifting expedition.
Earlier, in January, Mikhail Kovalchuk, president of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center, said that the Arctic is the testing ground of the future, where Russia has a global advantage. He noted that the country must be super-strong in the region to protect its national interests.
