As of the beginning of 2025, 2.16 million motorcycles have been registered in Russia. This was reported on March 20 by the analytical agency Autostat.

Over half (55.5%) of all motorcycles in Russia are of domestic origin. Japanese motorcycles are the second most common in the fleet, accounting for 13.1%. Motorcycle brands from China are in third place with a share of 7%. Belarusian and Czech motorcycles were also among the top five (6.6% and 6%, respectively). The share of motorcycle brands from other countries is less than 5%.

In the vintage rating, the leader is the domestic IZH (594 thousand units) with a share of 27.6% in the country's motorcycle fleet. This is followed by the products of the Irbit Motorcycle Factory — motorcycles of the Ural brand (275 thousand units) and the Degtyarev Plant (Voskhod; 175 thousand units). These three brands account for almost half (48.4%) of all motor vehicles registered in Russia.

On March 18, it was reported that Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki motorcycles turned out to be the most dangerous on Russian roads. In general, the number of road accidents caused by motorcyclists has increased 1.8 times over the year. The Krasnodar Territory has become the leading region in the number of motorcycle accidents.

On March 14, Viktor Potapenko, founder of the Motostudy motorcycle driving school, a certified BMW Motorrad instructor, told Izvestia about the most common accidents in Russia involving motorcyclists. According to him, such accidents most often occur when the car turns from the oncoming lane — the driver of the car turns left, but does not notice the approaching motorcyclist.
