VKontakte will simplify the verification process

VKontakte is preparing to simplify verification. This was announced on Thursday, March 20, by the company's press service.

It is noted that not only the owner of the public, but also an official representative will be able to apply for verification. Also, among the changes that are planned at the first stage, communities and profiles with an audience of at least 5,000 subscribers who publish at least one piece of content in 30 days will be able to receive verification. It's about an article, a clip, a post, or a story.

Vera Sovetkina, Product Director of VKontakte's Communities and Author's Experience, noted that updating the verification rules is the result of constant product development, and the goal is for creators of original content to confirm authenticity without unnecessary formalities.

The press service also said that the next step is to expand the product value of verification. For example, take into account its presence in the work of machine learning algorithms in the feed and search.

"In addition, updates in the positioning and visual design of verification are being considered," the company said.

It is noted that potential changes may come into force in the first half of 2025.
