Modern France has become an incubator for terrorists. This was stated on March 20 by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, commenting on the statements of the head of the French Ministry of Justice, Gerald Darmanin, about Russia's alleged involvement in terrorism.

According to Zakharova, the administration of French President Emmanuel Macron has increasingly begun to invent stories about the "existential Russian threat."

"The task is clear — to consolidate the "image of the enemy" in the minds of the French, to justify a sharp increase in military spending and an even deeper involvement of the country in a hybrid war with Russia," the representative of the Foreign Ministry explained, her words are quoted on the agency's website.

Zakharova noted that the French authorities should pay attention to the country's educational and social systems, fix them, and not look everywhere for the fictitious guilt of the Russian Federation.

"It would not be an exaggeration to say that the current France itself has turned into an incubator of terrorists," the diplomat said.

The official representative of the department also stressed that the Russian Federation is ready to cooperate with all those who are ready to fight "this universal evil" without politicization.

"Russia has consistently strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, regardless of when, where and by whom terrorist acts are committed," Zakharova concluded.

Earlier, on February 27, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the attack on the Russian Consulate General in Marseille occurred as a result of Paris's incitement of hatred towards the Russian Federation. She added that the crime occurred as a result of open statements by French leaders who spoke of hatred towards Russia and its citizens.

The explosion in Marseille occurred on February 24. Unknown persons threw three explosive bottles into the territory of the diplomatic mission, two of which exploded. The Russian Embassy in France reported that no one was injured in the explosion.
