Over the past day, 210 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 23 people were killed and 266 injured. 18 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on March 20 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 70 accidents involving pedestrians, five people were killed, and 71 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 10 child pedestrians, half of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 24 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 46 outside their area of operation. 22 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 25 young road users, including 14 passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.

On Wednesday, 14 bus accidents were recorded, in which four people were killed, and 36 more road users, including five child passengers, required medical attention. Five bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.

So, in Rostov-on-Don, the driver of a city bus carrying 25 passengers collided with another city bus with 30 passengers in the cabin moving ahead of him in the same direction. As a result of the accident, 11 passengers on both buses were injured and, after receiving medical treatment, were sent for outpatient treatment.

An accident involving a minibus occurred in Dagestan due to the fault of the driver of a specialized Gazelle. On 432 km of the Astrakhan-Kochubey—Kizlyar—Makhachkala federal highway R—215, a 22-year-old driver of a GAZ-172412 refrigerated van overook into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a truck. After that, he collided with a second truck in his lane, and then again on the "oncoming lane" — with an intercity minibus traveling with 13 passengers. A GAZELLE driver, a 60-year-old bus driver and two of his passengers were killed in a car accident. Ten more passengers of the bus were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded motorists that the lives and health of their passengers depend on skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding behavior on the road. When driving a car with child passengers in the cabin, you should be doubly attentive and careful not to create emergency situations. It is necessary not to be distracted while driving, not to exceed the set speed limit, to observe a safe side interval and the distance between vehicles, to abandon the risky manner of driving, overtaking and entering the lane of oncoming traffic, even in the permitted places.

"Always leave yourself plenty of time to react adequately to a possible change in the traffic situation at any moment. We also draw the attention of drivers to strict compliance with the rules for transporting children using car seats, car seats and other child restraints appropriate to the age, height and weight of the transported child, as well as their correct location and attachment inside the cabin. Take care of your young passengers, preventing even the prerequisites for a possible tragedy," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, in an interview with Izvestia.

Earlier in the day, the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate announced a "Bicycle Courier" raid, which is aimed at preventing offenses among delivery service workers on electric bicycles and personal mobility equipment.
