Sports in Russia are more than just competitions. According to Mediascope, 89% of the country's residents (12-64 years old) They follow sports events at least occasionally, and 60% closely watch tournaments. But most of the sports media is still aimed only at loyal fans or publishes the same type of news about who won the match and who ended their sports career.

Mash on sports breaks this pattern. This media is for those who want to see sports from a different perspective — with its behind-the-scenes intrigues, conflicts and bright characters. Mash editor-in-chief Evgeny Novikov explains the approach as follows:
