In 2025, Moscow's rolling stock will be replenished with more than 30 modern Ivolga 4.0 trains. This was announced by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

"We continue to actively upgrade trains at the Moscow Ring Road, and on behalf of Sergei Sobyanin, we will complete it this year. We are also preparing to replace outdated trains on the Yaroslavl railway line, now with colleagues from the Central Suburban Passenger Company and JSCRussian Railways is conducting technical testing of modern trains on these routes, checking whether the infrastructure is ready for more modern trains. This year, we expect the arrival of 33 more Ivolga trains, which will begin transporting passengers to the MCD-4 and Yaroslavl railway lines," Maxim Liksutov said.

Some of the trains will be purchased with the funds of an infrastructure loan. The new trains will also make it possible to fully complete the renovation of rolling stock on the Moscow Central Diameters.

The Moscow Department of Transport noted that the MDC has one of the highest rates of rolling stock renewal in Europe: in 2024 alone, more than 440 wagons were delivered for them.

Unlike the previous model, the Ivolga 4.0 train has a third door in the intermediate carriages, as in a subway carriage. This allows passengers to board and disembark faster. The new train has an increased capacity: it can carry almost 100 more passengers due to the expanded free space created by nine additional doors.
