Rospotrebnadzor ruled out the spread of Oropush fever in Russia

Rospotrebnadzor has ruled out the risks of spreading Oropush fever in Russia due to the lack of sources of infection in the country. This was announced on March 20 by the press service of the department.
Tourists have been warned about the risk of contracting such a fever in South American countries, including Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Cuba. This disease is transmitted through the bites of small flies and some species of mosquitoes. Symptoms of the disease include severe headache, muscle aches, chills, photosensitivity, nausea, vomiting, and rash.
The department added that Rospotrebnadzor employees conduct constant information monitoring of infections in the world and inform citizens about emerging risks.
"In order to prevent the import of dangerous infectious diseases into the territory of the Russian Federation, enhanced sanitary and quarantine control is carried out at all checkpoints, including using the Perimeter AIS, which makes it possible to assess and minimize the risks of importing dangerous infectious diseases," the press service said.
Specialists have also developed modern test systems for the diagnosis of Oropush. Their effectiveness was checked by the staff of Rospotrebnadzor in Cuba.
It is clarified that there is no vaccine against fever, so it is necessary to take precautions against mosquito bites in endemic areas.
Earlier, on March 11, Rospotrebnadzor ruled out the risk of Ebola spreading in Russia. The ministry noted that they keep the situation with the detection of cases of infection in Uganda under operational control. Rospotrebnadzor has developed diagnostic kits that can detect the genetic material of the virus, and test systems for detecting antibodies.
