Last year, the number of graduates of the capital's schools who scored 220 points or higher in three subjects of the Unified State Exam increased to 38.3%. This was stated by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

"The latest results of the Unified State Exam have proved that the quality of knowledge and competitiveness of Moscow graduates are still at a high level," he wrote on Telegram.

According to the mayor, last year Moscow schoolchildren won 24 medals, including 19 gold, at international subject Olympiads. The number of graduates who enroll in universities for budget places is also growing, the mayor added.

Sobyanin also said that starting from the new academic year, urban educational courses in mathematics, science and technology will be organized in the capital's schools. Students in grades 1-6 will solve creative tasks, developing logic, spatial and analytical thinking.

There will be new city Olympiads, including experimental ones. In April 2026, the Olympiad "Ready for life in a smart city" for the third and fourth grades will be held. "Such innovations are a response to the growing interest of the capital's schoolchildren in the exact sciences. For example, a record 60% of graduates plan to take the Unified State Exam in specialized mathematics this year," the mayor explained.
