Additional measures have been taken in Kurchatov to protect the Kursk NPP

Additional security measures have been put in place around the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) and in the city of Kurchatov, where it is located, as the situation in the region continues to be difficult. This was announced on March 20 by the head of the city Igor Korpunkov.
"I want to say that the difficult situation in the region, of course, could not but affect the work of the city, the work of the station. Additional, comprehensive security measures have been taken, and we are supporting them now," TASS quoted him as saying.
Among the additional security measures previously taken, Korpunkov listed the creation of checkpoints at the entrances and exits of the city.
Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom State Corporation, said on March 18 that nuclear safety is among Russia's priorities in resolving the conflict in Ukraine. He added that the Zaporizhia and Kursk nuclear power plants are in the zone of special attention. According to him, the issue of settlement must comply with all conditions for the safety of the Russian Federation's nuclear facilities.
