Colombia has handed over eight drug traffickers to the United States, including the son of the former leader of the Cali drug cartel, who was involved in trafficking illegal substances. This was announced on March 19 by the country's president Gustavo Petro.

"I am delivering 8 Colombian bandits, including the son of El Alacran ("Scorpion", real name Henry Loyasa Ceballos — Ed.). They are allies of the Mexican mafia and groups calling themselves revolutionaries, but they are just bandits," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Petro noted that he would not like to extradite Colombian citizens to the authorities of other countries, but "these people are doing great harm to Colombian society."

Earlier, on February 23, French Interior Minister Bruno Retaio announced that the head of the Marseille drug cartel, Mohamed Amra, was caught in Romania nine months after escaping from detention in France.
